SB 1296 -- CONVEYANCE IN JACKSON COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Callahan (Dougherty)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 17 to 0.

This bill authorizes the Governor to convey Highlands I and
Highlands II located in Jackson County by public sale.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the buildings are vacant, cost
money to maintain, and are no longer needed by the state.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Callahan.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
